Tom Carr’s April Summary

A much warmer and wetter than normal April here in the northern part of Acushnet.  The mean temperature of 51.9 deg. for this April is the 2nd. warmest April on my temperature records back to 1985.  My warmest April was in 2010 with a mean of 52.9 deg.  It was the wettest April since 8.56″ fell in 2007.   The wettest April on my precip. records back to 1979 was in 1983 when 10.62″ fell.

April started off very wet as 5.23″ of rain and a trace of snow fell during the first 7 days of the month.   The peepers were happy and they were followed by blooming daffodils and forsethia by mid month. Easter Sunday  was a summer like 83 degrees. The second half of the month soon became typical Spring stuck in  a rut wet.  A hummingbird arrived early in the morning on the last day of the month.
